Man, yesterday was full of yet more surprises concerning the "new" distribution of work assignments. While the boss wussed out & didn't bother to inform yours truly, the full details...I decided that it really doesn't matter.

At first, I started to get upset, then it dawned on me... The Mercy is my job, not my life. But it did give me an excuse to come home & crack open a cold one.

He was 85.

Man, I know it was a corny show, (but it didn't start out that way) & when I was a kid, I loved watching it.

A couple of folks who I work with, wound up deciding that they would have an encounter (which was a bad decision, considering they are both married to other people)

Well, after awhile, they had a falling out & wound up taking each other to small claims court. (the wicked webs we weave) Well, the one who thought they were going to win hands down....lost their ass.

Now, things are probably going to get real interesting.

Meanwhile...My old Director (the one who killed the teacher with his SUV while driving under the influence)

Keeps getting his trial postponed. (the joys of having a fat bank account)

Was jamming on this album on the way in to the pisser yesterday & after dealing with a flood & not getting any response from the fellow support services department, environmental services (a fancy name for housekeeping)

I was thinking about a few of them being all dead.

As I was running the half inch cable down a drain & my fellow employee Uncle Buck was sucking up the fecal matter in a 55 gallon drum, I started singing this song.

I know I'm a twisted person, but I actually do what I get paid to do when I'm at work.

I did get them to finally show up (after I had my dispatcher contact the House Supervisor & she showed up) Needless to say, she at first, was a little upset at being bothered, but after she saw what I was going through, she made a call & surprise, they started showing up.

Two guys trying to stop a disaster, while housekeepers showing up & then running away as quickly as they could (so they didn't have to assist)

Man, am I glad to be home. (and not be dead)

We had a few meetings yesterday & the new Director decided that he (as many that came before him) has decided that he is going to save the world. Unfortunately, he has surrounded himself with Brain, from the famous Pinky & the Brain.

They are tearing down the old McDonalds restaurant in Festus.

Now, lots of people are not sentimental, because if they were, they wouldn't tear down old buildings & erect new ones. Not that this building was very old, it opened in 1973 I believe.

McDonalds tore down the old Hi-Ponite tavern to build their present new location. If anyone reading this is familiar with the area, they know that you could almost throw a rock & hit the building from the the spot where the old one was. Plus, the greedy bastards have another one over by the White Castle (which is getting razed as well for a bigger building)

Anyway, I had my first McDonald hamburger at the old one & as a kid, I spent some time hanging out there. The sad thing is, as you get older, you find yourself seeing more & more things that were a part of your life, simply get replaced.

The old Burger Chef that was at one end of Main street (which morphed into Hardees) Someone should have been hung for that transaction.

Anyway....

I have seen way too many stupid decisions that were made to enhance progress.

Screw that is my opinion.

I stopped at an obscure cemetery today, amidst my many errands, to take some photos for out of town relatives of the departed.

It wasn't bad out at all, until I wound up being there with the wind coming off of this field. I liked to froze my boys off before I got back to the truck. I was able to get some of the headstones, but due to my dumb ass leaving my gloves at the ranch, I aborted a detailed field study.

There was quite a development of shocking qualities yesterday at work, but due to the nature of the divulsions that sprung up, I can't really expound on them at the present.

Lets just say, the shit is about to hit the fan for some people I would imagine. There is suppose to be a department meeting that I'm going to miss, but I have people who are going to send me info on it, if it is something that will involve me.

A word that accurately describes the last couple of days I have been having.

The more one tries to change the circumstances they find themselves in, the more it is apparent that we are all on a merry go round & everything seems to stay in a circle.

No matter how many times or people that I inform about the asshole practice of simply flushing everything down a toilet, the more they continue to do so. (These crackhead employees do not do this at their house, because they would foot a plumbing bill once & it wouldn't happen again) I had a flood yesterday in a stack that is continually causing us problems....Only because of the staff (not the patients or visitors)

Yet the management doesn't give a rats ass enough to squelch it. (Because they are not the ones who get to play in the mess)

What blows me away is, more & more people are simply projecting the attitude of I don't give a shit. Doesn't matter where you go, if you don't see it, you are probably one of the ones who are doing it.

All of this, I pulled out on simply one trip down the stack. Paper towels, tampons, gauze, fiber towels...stuff that should go in a wastebasket, but instead, gets put in the magic fountain.

I also spent yesterday, getting dumped on by my fellow coworkers in my own department. Guys who never get called on the carpet for whatever reasons.

Man, I'm glad that I can simply throw it all down here, otherwise, I probably would have to wrap my hands around someones throat.

While looking for my friend Al's obit. (another friend that I work with, had a call yesterday morning, letting him know about Al) That caller said he was at Walmart when he had a heart attack.

I came across another friend who over the years I had lost track of.

This is Linda.

(She died on the 2nd) We worked together 30 years ago. (when I realized that it was that long ago, I freaked out about how quickly time flies)

It brought back a nice memory of once, when she was cleaning the men's rest room at the old Robinhood restaurant (where we worked at the time) She came screaming to me to come & check something out.

I was cooking behind the counter, but went because she was extremely pissed off & was raising hell (Linda almost never said a cross word or cussed, but she was hopping mad)

Why?

Because some guy had taken a dump in the urinal, instead of using the toilet. This one was mounted just high enough, where someone could easily achieve the result.

Man, I had some good times working there. Linda was a good friend at that time of my life. It is amazing how many people wind up touching us as we make our journey through this existence.

Right before I left work, I found out that an old friend died today from an apparent heart attack, so I am kind of in shock. We talked not too long ago about trying to start up an internet broadcast. He loved classic rock & felt that between our two different outlooks on the political scene & the eclectic array of our musical tastes, it would do pretty well.

Was changing some bulbs last week in a lounge for visitors & turned around & saw this.

I didn't look at it, but made a mental note to ask who did the stupid ass thing of wrapping it up like this. I took my usual four days off & forgot all about it until last night.

I asked our refer guy if he knew anything about it & he said no, but didn't want to go look at it as long as no one was complaining. I took a walk up there & it was still sitting there, just like so.

I'm guessing that some people just don't give a crap if what they do (or don't do) is embarrassing to others who work with them. There was an employee number scratched on it, so I know which idiot now did this.

I can't for the life of me at times, understand how some people get hired (or for that matter, stay employed)

In an earlier post, I relayed that they had some contractors who were scrapping out the old chillers. I also commented that unless they watched them, they would take all the valuable metal & leave the rest. Well, call me Mr. Wizard, but that is exactly what they did.

I understand (but I'm not suppose to know) that they had to pay yet another outside group, to come in & finish the job. (Which I have yet to see)

In a section of the old power plant, they started to rip out these babies...See the header picture (they will go, but are not very profitable when it comes to extracting usable copper)

Looking at the date they were constructed, they are older than me.

We had to use a jigsaw to cut through the bottom of the shelve & bingo...There was this waiting for us.

Went over & had dinner with the folks yesterday & while they still have a lot to do on the house, it is starting to come together.

I grew tired of the daily routine & what I have been listening to on the way in to work, so I have been simply avoiding anything that makes me want to smash people in the face.

That means I have been cranking the tunes on the old radio stations & they have been playing some pretty good stuff on the way home at night.

I dropped in on the old crew in Surgery tonight, to see what if anything, has changed & as far as it applies to me....nothing. As soon as I got there, they wanted me to do ten thousand projects, so I said my hellos & cranked out a few favors & beat feet.

I am so going to get trashed this weekend. I might even start when I get in tonight.

While I was trying to figure out why this lady didn't have any heat in her room last night..(some dumb ass from another shift had installed the wrong thermostat) I finally was able to go to lunch, where I discovered...

That Haberberger (an outside mechanical contractor) had bought our shift pizzas from Pizza Hut.

Now...the offshift is considered the red headed step children of the hospital & we NEVER get treated. When we come in, we get like half eaten donuts, food thrown all over the breakroom tables (waiting for us to clean it up) You get the picture.

So, I guess we will have to take those guys off the list of contractors that we urinate in their drinking coolers.

Not that I would ever do that, but I do work with some bitter people.

I should have known that the day was going to be busy when I saw these nimrods pulling a telephone pole up out of the ditch with their truck.

I got a call up to L&D early, that their auto doors into C-section were not working. A day shifter came on the radio & said that two others had looked at it & that they were going to have to have Jerry our outside door contractor, look at it.

This told me that when I got there, I was going to have some crackhead dive right into my rectum.

I arrived & sure enough, they were not in a festive mood. I went to the door & saw that someone had simply turned the damn thing off. I turned it on & it worked like a charm. As I stood there opening & closing it, a nurse waddled her fat ass towards me from the sterile side. I asked her if she could do me a favor & push the paddle from her side (that would save me from gowning up etc. to walk a few feet to test it)

She cackled out that she could, but to hurry up. (of course, I pointed out to her that the speed in which the act was accomplished was entirely up to how fast she could make it to the paddle & push it) This... pissed her off, but a doctor working in the room (performing a section I assumed) starting laughing at this remark (which pissed her off even more.)

So...

She had to come back with something witty, like...the paddle works on your side but never does over here. As she pushed the metal square, the door worked just fine & I told her, the key to having a operating door is to first...stop turning the power off to it.

The doctor in the room started laughing at this & I didn't make a knew nurse friend.

I think I'll still be able to sleep tonight though.

We had our Christmas party for the hospital tonight & add to that, all the daily crackhead calls...A mixture for fun & excitement.

This was the first thing I saw when I entered the basement of the Children's tower today. McCarthy contractors blasted through here right before I went in to drop the kids off at the pool. (nothing beats getting paid to do the things you normally do for free)

Why, I had to use the handicapped stall, because those nasty guys trashed the rest of the bathroom. The nice thing about using that area is, I could play handball while I sat on the throne if I wanted to. They have lots of room in that stall.

Some crackhead woman left the water on in the restroom on the 4th floor & then someone called down & said water was running out from under the door. (nothing like perhaps sticking your useless head inside & actually seeing that a simple twist of the wrist could of helped us out)

Wound up helping the plumber, because he was running the cable up the pipe. I put the human channel locks on the vent clean out & snapped it open, then we finally opened that line up.

See, promoting better prostate health isn't the only things I can do with my hands.

Great, here we go again, excuse me while I find a phone booth to change into the tights.

He is a guy who hasn't been with the department that long, a year or so. He is on the day shift & he is a nice guy (so, they dump on him of course)

Yesterday, I noticed he was staying after his shift & was tinkering in the carpenter shop. I just assumed he had some home project he decided to work on.

He was busy rigging up Christmas lights with a motion detector & hanging stuff like this.

I was out putting out fires as they say & when I came down after nine, I saw that Ed had spent hours cutting out little socks & gluing glitter names on them.

It's nice to see that this corrupt world hasn't beaten everyone down yet.

Good riddance to this asshole. I have been told a few stories about his being a dick while attending events where he was there to enhance his image. Hey, I'm not him, so I can't speak for him, but I certainly wouldn't have behaved that way, (I have ethics & standards & taste)

What do you expect from a game that allows someone like Alomar, to get inducted to the hall of fame (In my opinion, he should have been banned from baseball for life after spitting in the umpires face) So, Albert can behave any way he likes, someone will validate it.

Took off of work today to have the teeth cleaned & the prognosis was nice! Although the hygienist & the dentist asked me if I grind my teeth while I sleep (Now, how in the hell am I suppose to know what I do when I'm crashed) None of the significant others told me I did that in the past. I would only snore when I was really wiped out.

They asked me if I was under a lot of stress. Well, I doubt that, because I have reached that point in life where I really could care less about the things that are designed to screw with me, but you never know what goes on between the body & the brain.

Made an appointment next week to have brakes put on the red beast. (it is that time)

People are getting really into Christmas this year with the lights is seems. Everywhere I go, someone has strung bulbs around their entire house & then some.

To celebrate not having to have a drill in my face today, I am just popping a cold Bud Light!

Seeing the old burn unit empty. They moved them over to the Childrens tower now.

Climbed up to the top of the Mercy to check the Christmas tree lights tonight. We had a department meeting today & they threw out some accolades, but still haven't given us back our 15 minutes they are having us shave every day.

As a matter of fact, the word is, they are looking into cutting more out of the department. Which could mean anything, from letting people go, to letting people go.

One day at a time is how I take everything, it is the only way one doesn't go off the deep end.

That is what we usually do. When we make room in our lives for something new, we wind up simply filling it up with more of the same old junk.

The chillers are out of the boiler house & they are going to town on the ones in surgery equipment room. Pretty freaking big ass motor sitting out on the ground huh.

I heard that when they hooked up the last dumpster, it pulled the front end of the hauling truck up in the air because it was so heavy. They had to drag it over to a flat gravel area where a bigger truck could haul it away.

I got an e-mail from the vice president, asking me to participate in an interview of the new candidate for the directors position.

The only problem was, they sent me the invite on my first day off & the interview was on the last day I was off. So... I sent him a reply, letting him know that I would have been pleased to have attended & contribute if only someone in charge would have actually let me know I was suppose to attend.

The reply was simply this: I should feel honored that they thought so much of my opinion as an employee, to invite me to be on the panel.

Does one actually lose ones mind when they accept a position of importance?

Ok, in a nutshell....Radio basically sucks nowadays, period. It isn't a medium that is designed to entertain you, all they do is hawk any product or service under the sun. Anything is acceptable as long as the sponsor's check clears.

I have at least an hour commute to the "Mercy" so during my time slot to tune in, I usually listen to KSIV, then bounce to the news (Which is full of no news, just Liberal crap)

Then, I'll try KTRS, because I simply cannot stand J.C.

I never liked the way this guy conducted himself in the past & he hasn't disappointed me yet. He is still the rude idiot who thinks people might actually care about his perspective on anything. I listen because it is kind of what one does when they watch auto racing...They are waiting for someone to slam into a wall at over a hundred miles an hour.

Now, I get burned out on the crap that gets spewed on the air, so I'll simply jam on some cool music. After a few days, I'll simply drive in peace. But eventually I'll tune back in. Now....

I knew this idiot had a meltdown about a week ago, over getting so many people writing in & calling him out on the subject he threw out there. (inside dope on Albert Pujols & his contract negotiations) So I tune in & hear Smash filling in because El Doucho got suspended. I simply enjoy using that euphemism because he loves to refer to others in that manner.

Anyway, I could care less what happens to Albert. Either he stays or he leaves, but it will not effect me personally, so I could care less. Now, as far as Mr. Know-it-all?

His leaving could only improve the dismal broadcasting that St. Louis currently is offering.

Finished watching Face In The Crowd over at the Sibs & I was shocked that old Mila didn't get naked in this one. She has no problem shedding the clothes in others & since this went straight to DVD, I figured there would be something good about it.

My sister invited me over for dinner tonight & since I don't see much of her, I said OK. But when I got there (at the agreed upon time) She had already ate without me.

Now I ask you, is that proper etiquette? Invite someone over & eat before they get there? Well, she said it was alright because I was her brother.... I'm thinking, no, that just isn't right at all. I would never do that to someone, no matter how I was related to them.

After a crazy night at the Mercy, I get home & see in the paper that another fellow alumni has kicked the bucket.

We had some really good times & some trying ones, but it always kind of sucks when you see someone you know take the dirt nap. Memories start popping in your head about some things you did that have been just rolling around the closet of your mind.

He wound up being a Jefferson County officer (which is ironic, considering some of the things we did)

He once saved a guy from trying to commit suicide & the stories that I could tell....
